How To Add A Modern Touch To Your Onam Makeup Look

Planning on having an adipoli Onam? Well, we all know that the festivities won’t be complete without a selfie or photo dump to commemorate the events. To make sure that you glow bright, you need a makeup look that will help you stand out. Lucky for you, we’ve done all the work and are sharing it with you as a small gift to start off the festive season.

Here’s how you can put a unique, modern twist on the timeless, traditional look that is everyone’s go-to.

Cloud skin on the horizon

We’re saying it right now – keep the full-coverage matte foundation down. We know that’s the first thing everyone reaches for during the festive season, but it’s time to switch it up. Instead, try the cloud skin trend that champions a dreamy, soft-matte base. Think of the Paris filter on your skin, but IRL.

Getting it right starts with your skincare. Give your skin a boost of hydration with a sheet mask before starting your makeup application. Any pick with moisturising ingredients like hyaluronic acid or squalane will act as the perfect way to get plump skin. Follow it up with a hydrating, gripping primer to make sure that your makeup stays put all through the festivities.

And finally, pick a medium-coverage foundation with a soft-matte finish for that cloud skin effect. Apply it with a makeup sponge to avoid any streaks and set only the areas that you usually get oily in, with a lightweight translucent powder.

Kohl me maybe

Remember when rose gold showed up practically everywhere? From our phone cases to jewellery, it truly had a major moment many years ago. Well, it’s now back and making an appearance in our makeup routines, too. Metallic rose gold eyeshadow is the easiest way to elevate your daytime festive look and make a statement perfect for the no-makeup look. Pack on the eyeshadow all over your eyelid with a dense, flat brush for maximum colour payoff.

Then, pull out your trusty kajal and apply it on both your upper and lower lash lines. Don’t worry about being too precise, because next, you have to smoke it out with a small, fluffy brush. This smoked-out effect is the best way to add some drama to your eyes without a ton of effort. Finish with a few swipes of a lengthening mascara and wiggle the wand from the base of your lashes to the tips for maximum impact.

Matte in heaven

Creamy, satin-finish lipsticks make for a comfortable wear, but unfortunately play a disappearing act rather quickly the minute you have some paal payasam. Luckily, you don’t have to compromise on the finish you love or the staying power, either – pick a soft-matte liquid lipstick or lip cream. Variations of nude always pair well with smokey, dramatic eye looks. Plus, you can skip the lipliner and use the tip of your lipstick’s wand to outline the shape of your pout before filling it in, too.
