ICYMI, the Clean Girl aesthetic has also taken over our festive makeup looks. From Khushi Kapoor’s soft pink glam to Suhana Khan’s Y2K-inspired mug (dark lip liners are back!) — the beauty girls are all on board. Featuring a single tint on your eyelids, lips and cheeks, this high-impact look radiates effortless glamour like nothing else. To get things started, we asked celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni to create a monochrome beauty look that will complement your Diwali ’fits — from daytime puja kurtas to midnight party shararas. Here’s how to recreate it in three simple steps.
Pick Your Purple
We’re calling it now – hues of pink and lavender will be taking over your daytime festive glam looks. “Purple looks great on Indian skin tones, but you must remember to cover any discolouration or dark circles beforehand as the colour can enhance them,” says Namrata. “You can wear this shade as an eyeliner, just on the outer socket of your eye, or create a three-toned look with different hues going from lightest to darkest. Don’t forget to wear some cluster lashes on the outer corners of your eyes to lift and enhance them.”
Do The Dew
The best pairing – other than you and kheer kadam – is pastel tones and dewy skin. We know that the most obvious makeup move for the festive season is to reach out for your trusty full-coverage foundation, but that doesn’t always have to have a matte finish. Let your natural glow shine through by using a hyaluronic acid or vitamin C-based sheet mask before starting. Swap out your powder products for cream ones like contour and highlighting sticks.
Finishing Touches
Complete your look by tapping on the same shade of purple on your cheeks and lips. “You can pair the eye look with a soft purple-pink blush and a purple lipstick – wear it sheer like a stain over your lips if you prefer a more natural look. Remember to choose soft purples with pink undertones, as they always look great on warm skin tones,” Namrata adds. Top off your lips with a translucent pink or purple lip gloss if you’re taking your look from day to night, and don’t forget the hairspray. We all know about the notorious loose hair-lip gloss pairing.
