It’s official: Glitter gunmetal eyes have come straight from the runways and into our repertoire of makeup looks just in time for the festive season. Deceptively easy, yet eye-catching, this look is the ultimate festive glam staple.
But, if you’re new to makeup or just haven’t experimented with more elaborate eyeshadow looks before, we know that trying to recreate this trend can get a little confusing.
Well, you’re in luck – we did all the hard work for you and put together this easy, step by step guide to getting it just right.
Step 1: Prep and prime
Use an eyeshadow primer to make sure that your eye look lasts all night long and the glitter doesn’t migrate all over your face (unless that’s a look you’re into, so you do do!). Set it with loose translucent powder to create the perfect matte base for your eyeshadow look.
Step 2: The right shade
Deposit a cool-toned brown eyeshadow into your crease. Then, choose a striking, glittery silver-grey shade to tap onto your lids. If you only have a matte eyeshadow, you can even use your favourite highlighter to top it off for a glittery finish.
Step 3: Perfect your application
Using the right brush can make all the difference, but sometimes, your fingers can work better than any other tool! If you’re not getting the saturated pigment you need, use your finger to layer on the glitter eyeshadow for maximum impact. Smoke out your lower lash line with the same cool-toned brown you used in your crease.
Step 4: Add finishing touches
Finish with a winged eyeliner – subtle or bold, it’s totally up to you. Curl your lashes and swipe on a few coats of mascara, and you’re done!
