4 Eye Creams To Unload Your Under-eye Baggage

So you’ve worn your coolest pair of Ray-Bans and applied cucumber slices on your eyelids. But if you still can’t hide the effects of a busy social calendar or your late-night Netflix binge, we’ve got you covered.

After a lot of research we found the answer with dermatologist Dr Jaishree Sharad. She recommends investing in a hard-working undereye cream that can help you fake a full night’s sleep for that 8 AM video call. Here’s how to find the perfect one for you.

WHY ARE EYE CREAMS IMPORTANT FOR YOU?

“The skin around your eyes is thin and so are the muscles. This is the main reason why your under-eye area is prone to puffiness. Lack of sleep, excess salt or alcohol in your diet and smoking can cause inflammation in that area. Sometimes, this is further triggered by factors like your age, genetics or allergies to perfumed cosmetics, dust, pollution, and animal fur or sinusitis,” says Dr Sharad.

The good doctor suggests you sleep on time and roll back your salt and alcohol intake. But sometimes, no matter how many productivity apps you download, you can fall off your routine–like when you watch a new web series within a day so you can save yourself from spoilers the next day. Admit it, we’ve all been there.
For times like these, it’s best to have an efficient undereye cream as part of your skincare routine.

ENHANCE YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP

“You can pick creams that are rich in vitamin K, vitamin C, caffeine, bioflavonoids and polyphenols which help in depuffing your undereye,’ says Dr Sharad. These ingredients will also do double duty by moisturising your skin, tackling pigmentation and any signs of ageing that you may notice. You can also look for cooling natural ingredients, like cucumber and green tea, that are rich in antioxidants and reduce inflammation–which means you can say goodbye to your undereye bags too. Apply your cream twice a day—in the AM and PM—over your moisturiser for bright and well-rested eyes.
