Two-Tone Lips Are Everywhere Right Now — Here’s How To Get The Look

The new year is shaping up to be one of the boldest yet when it comes to makeup: frosty blush is back, peach is the new pink, and soft grunge is here to stay. On the lipstick front, one trend has emerged as the clear winner — two contrasting shades are better than one.

At Balenciaga’s Autumn Winter 2024 show, Cardi B made her runway debut in fuzzy blue coat paired with a glossy ponytail. Her lips? A stunning black and maroon ombre. David Koma experimented with crystal embellishments on the bottom lip, while painting the top a vibrant scarlet. And for Kim Shui, makeup artist Romero Jennings dreamed up a delicious violet and raspberry red pairing. Looking for inspiration beyond your FYP? Recreate the look in three simple steps:

Start with lip prep: First exfoliation, followed by a thin layer of balm. This will give you a smooth canvas, so all the products glide effortlessly.

It’s all about colour theory: Make sure that the darker hue in your pairing is applied as a lip liner. So, if you’re doing mocha and almond, start outlining your lips with a dark mocha liner and work your way in. Now fill the center with a warm almond brown and blend the two using your finger, or a makeup brush.

Finishing touches: Once you’re done, apply another layer of lip liner and top everything off with a clear gloss.
