So you've had a good time partying with your friends, dancing, playing with colours, and having a few drinks and lots of sweets. While that’s a pretty successful Holi plan in our books, we know that you’re probably not into the mood to dive into a long shower routine right after and would want to crash instead.
While we totally get that feeling, we suggest hopping into the shower instead because your skin would probably sending out an SOS signal right around that time – especially your nails and ears. After all, these two areas are some of the most notoriously tough places to remove Holi colours from, and for good reason.
So, do we have you convinced? Then get started with our top three tips to help care for your nails and ears post-Holi.
It’s shower time
The first thing to do after coming back from that Holi party is to step into the shower ASAP. This will give the colours less time to soak into your skin and stain it further. Remember to be gentle, though, especially with your ears. While exfoliating can help, you should keep in mind that you’re coming back from spending hours out in the sun and rubbing on your skin can make it irritated and cause rashes.
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise
This is one piece of advice that works for pretty much any part of your body, but especially your nails and ears. These areas are usually ignored in your body care routine, so making sure that you’re moisturising them regularly will help calm any irritation and help fade the stains over time, too. Use an oil-based formula for best results.
Nail your aftercare
Ideally, the best thing to do before celebrating Holi is to paint your nails and cut them short to avoid colours getting stuck underneath and staining your fingers. If you skipped that part during your getting ready routine, not to worry. Wash your hands with a gentle soap and scrub the tips of your fingers. Apply a cuticle oil on and around your nails to help moisturise the area and avoid further staining.
