This monochromatic look is just as addictive as espresso, with a hint of spice
Food-themed beauty trends continue their dominance. Our latest obsession? Chestnut makeup – a trend that is shaping up to be the new neutral. Defined by toasty shades of brown, this colour palette is perfect for the seasonal vibe shift. Models at Anna Sui Autumn/Winter 2024 were seen wearing chestnut-coded smokey eyeshadow, while Ralph Lauren made a case for the timeless brown lip. Beauty It-girls Simone Ashley and Sabrina Carpenter are on the same page with their ’90s inspired glam taking over our social media timelines.
We spoke to Zainab Burmawala, Education Manager, M.A.C Cosmetics India for an A-Z breakdown of our cover look. Here’s everything you need to know.
Step one: Begin by building a soft grunge eye look. “I’m going to start with the In Extreme Dimension Kajal. It’s a jet-black pencil that glides on effortlessly,” says Burmawala.
Step two: It’s time for the smokey eye. “We’re going in with the Connect In Colour eyeshadow palette in Unfiltered Nudes. Mixing two shades – Sonic Chocolate and Give Me Cyberspace,” says Burmawala. “For the inner corners I’m using the shade Internet Star, this will make your eyes pop,” she adds. “Top everything off with the Macstack mascara for amazing volume and length.”
Step three: Let’s get that sunkissed glow. “To bronze up the face, I’m using the Studio Fix Powder Plus foundation in the shade NC46,” says Burmawala. “Start from the corner of the ear and go all the way till the edge of the mouth,” she adds.
Step four: A classic nude lip to match the chestnut eyes. “Start with the MACximal Silky Matte lipstick in shade Taupe and contour the lips with a brown eyeshadow,” says Burmawala. “I’m using the shade Give Me Cyberspace. This will balance out the smokey eye,” she adds.
Finishing Touches: “Finally, locking everything in with M.A.C Fix Stay Over which is an alcohol-free setting spray,” Burmawala adds.
