Some occurrences are just a fact of life. There will be lipstick on your teeth during that important meeting, your mascara will smudge a little right before that first date, and your scalp will feel extra dry during the winters.
Well, the last one doesn’t have to always be a part of that list. With just a few simple tweaks you can give your scalp lots of hydration and TLC and say a forever goodbye to hair fall and itchiness. Here are three of our top tried-and-tested tips to get you started.
Skip the heat
Now this one sounds like a compromise, but we promise you that it has a bunch of benefits. Turning down the temperature in your home, shower, and on your hairdryer can do wonders for your hair and scalp. Anything hot – air, water – is a major trigger for a dry scalp in the colder months. We’re also not telling you to switch to cold air or water, though – the lowest setting on your dryer or lukewarm water will do just fine!
Switch up your products
It’s time to be extra-nice to your scalp. Switch to gentle, hydrating shampoo and conditioner formulas and invest in a moisturising hair mask to incorporate into your care routine once a week. A moisturising scalp scrub can also help buff away dead skin cells and deliver lots of hydration in one go.
Switch up your wash day routine
The winters are a great time to start spacing out your washes. Over-shampooing can lead to your products stripping moisture from your scalp rather than adding more, so aim to wash your hair around 2-3 times per week. Of course, every person is different, so there’s some trial and error involved here to figure out what schedule works best for you.
