I’d like to think of myself as a liquid lipstick aficionado. I’ve tried everything from cult favourites from across the globe to drugstore dupes. I love that I don’t need to touch them up often or worry about them budging under my mask. But more often than not, I find that they’re extremely drying and highlight the creases on my lips.
The creamy bullet lipstick from Lakmé’s 9 To 5 range has always been a mainstay in my kit. So when I heard that Lakmé launched their new 9 To 5 Primer + Matte Liquid Lip Color I had to give it a shot. The lipstick not only promises to be transfer-proof, but also crease-proof, meaning it goes on smoothly without highlighting any cracks in your lips. I put it through a 9 to 5 wear test to see if you should add it to your cart. Here’s how it fared through a typical day in office:
9 AM: The Post-gym Coffee Run
After a long and sweaty session of Pilates, I wore Lakme’s new liquid lipstick in a deep mauve shade called Intense Latte. First thoughts? It went on super smooth without highlighting any creases and had amazing colour payoff in just one stroke. I made a coffee stop on my way to office and was surprised to see no stains on my takeaway cup. Talk about a strong start.
1PM: The Lunch Crunch
Here’s where I put it to the real test. The challenge: to last through a bowl of spicy, but oh-so-good ramen. And I would say it passed with flying colours, but the colour wasn’t flying anywhere, literally. It didn’t budge or settle into the creases and felt almost weightless on my lips.
4PM: The Power Point
A super important presentation meant I was biting my lips a lot more than usual out of habit. I noticed my lipstick had slight fading towards the centre, but it’s nothing that a quick touch-up couldn’t fix. It still went on smooth and didn’t highlight any dry patches.
5PM: The Tea Talk
For snack time, I grabbed some warm tea and a street-style sandwich with my colleagues before heading back home. Lakme’s new liquid lipstick lived up to its promise. It stayed put throughout my water cooler gossip session without drying my lips. I could still wear it to my friend’s birthday dinner without a touch-up and won’t need to sleep with a hydrating lip mask either. What a win!
