The right kind of blush can do all kinds of wonders for your face. It can give you a healthy glow, and even give the illusion of higher cheekbones to rival Bella Hadid’s angular face.
But how do you pick the perfect blush from all the new-age formulations and shades that range from mauve to coral? Turns out, it depends largely on your skin type.
No need to fall down the rabbit hole of research just yet! Celebrity makeup artist Bianca Louzado is here to break it all down and help you find your ultimate blush crush that’ll give your skin a healthy glow.
According to Louzado, the ideal blush formula for your normal skin type is a powder formulation.
“Powder blush tends to highlight acne or dryness due to the friction created while blending with a brush. So, it is best used on normal skin that has been hydrated correctly with a moisturiser, oil or primer prior to applying makeup”, she says.
How to apply: For powder formulas, it’s essential for you to apply it with the right brush size. Louzado says, “Look for a medium fluffy brush to sweep the powder onto the high points of your cheekbones, followed by a kabuki brush to blend it in. Anything too small will deposit an intense pigment and anything too large will cause it to fade away quickly.”
Pro tip: “Pink-toned blushes are quite flattering on light-to-medium skin tones, but if you have a deeper skin tone, it’s the peachy corals that add a healthy flush of colour without giving that grey, powdery finish.”
