Give a sultry upgrade to your trusty winged eyeliner look
No festive makeup look is complete without the three B’s: Big, bold, and bright. But with a jam-packed social calendar, it can be hard to carve the time to pull off an intricate blue cut-crease eyeshadow when you’re already running late.
Luckily, you don’t always have to rely on your trusty but basic winged eyeliner. The ‘festive flick’ is an easy upgrade that will add drama with no extra work. This high-impact, smoked-out version of the cat eye is sultry and alluring – perfect for evening parties. And the best part? This universally-flattering look only needs three steps, so it’s truly effortless.
Start by lining your waterline and creating a winged eyeliner with a kajal. Choose any colour you like – purples, greens, blues, and copper hues make brown eyes pop. Pick a creamy formula so that you have some time to blend it out before it sets into place. Make the wing as thick or thin as you like. And if you can’t match both eyes perfectly, don’t worry because you’ll be blending it out – it really is mess-proof!
Next, dip into a matching matte eyeshadow with a precise, angled brush, and start smoking out your wing and the area underneath your waterline. Create a gradient, keeping most of the pigment near your lash line, and feathering it outwards. The powder eyeshadow will also set the creamy kajal into place, keeping your look intact all night long.
Finally, swipe on a few coats of a volumising mascara to add definition. Apply an extra layer on your outer corner lashes to emphasise the lifted, upturned shape.
